Importing Your Myzone Status Into Fittest (Keep Your Rank)
The single biggest thing that stops a gym moving off Myzone is not the software. It is the status. Members have spent years building up a rank, a number that says how hard they have worked, and the moment you mention a change they hear the same thing: "so I lose all of that?" It is a fair worry, and if the answer were yes, most owners would quietly drop the idea and carry on paying for something they have outgrown.
So let us clear it up first. When you switch from Myzone to Fittest, your members do not start from zero. They can import the status they have already earned. This post walks through exactly how that works, what carries over, and why it removes the last real objection to making the move.
Why status is the sticking point
Effort-based systems work because they turn a workout into a score, and a score into something a person feels ownership over. That is the whole point, and it is why they retain people. But it also means the status becomes a small psychological asset. Members do not want to hand it back.
If you have been weighing up a switch from Myzone, you have probably run into this exact conversation on the gym floor. The features might be better elsewhere, the pricing might be simpler, but the sunk cost of a member's rank feels like it belongs to them, not to the platform. Ignore that feeling and a good chunk of your most engaged members dig their heels in.
The way through is not to argue that the status does not matter. It clearly does. The way through is to let them keep it.
What "keeping your rank" actually means in Fittest
Fittest has its own progression system: a ladder of ranks that members climb by earning effort points, running from Mortal all the way up to Apotheosis. It is designed so the early ranks come quickly and the higher ones take months and then years, which keeps people moving without ever quite arriving. If you want the full picture of how the ladder works, we have written it up separately in From Mortal to Apotheosis.
Two things matter for anyone coming from Myzone.
First, the very first point a member ever earns puts them at Initiate, and that rank is kept for life. Nobody who trains is ever back at nothing.
Second, members can bring their Myzone history in and have it reflected in where they land, rather than opening the app as a total beginner next to someone who joined last week. The status they built does not evaporate the day you change platforms.
How the import works
The flow is deliberately simple, because it has to be done by the member on their own phone, not by you at the desk.
Inside the Fittest app, a member goes to:
Profile > Import your history > upload a screenshot
They take a screenshot of their Myzone status from the Myzone app, upload it, and Fittest reads it in. That is the whole job. No account linking, no data-sharing agreement to chase, no waiting on an export from a third party. A screenshot is something every member already knows how to take, which is exactly why the step works on a busy gym floor rather than only in theory.
What to tell members
Keep the instruction to one line and put it where they will see it. Something like: "Open Fittest, go to Profile, tap Import your history, and upload a screenshot of your Myzone status." Pin it in your community channel, print it on a card at reception, or walk the first few people through it so they can show the rest. Members copying members is the fastest way to get a room switched over.
Do it once
The import is a one-time move rather than something to repeat. Once a member has brought their history across, their progress from then on is earned inside Fittest through the effort points they rack up in your classes and their own training. There is nothing to keep syncing and nothing that can drift out of date.
Turning the switch into a moment, not a loss
Handled well, moving off Myzone becomes a relaunch you can actually get members excited about, rather than a downgrade they grudgingly accept.
The framing matters. You are giving them a bigger system and letting them carry their history into it. On day one they can see their imported status, they keep their lifelong Initiate rank as a floor, and they have a longer ladder ahead of them to climb. That is a better story than "we changed apps, please re-register."
It is also a retention moment if you treat it as one. A platform change is one of the classic points where members drift, because any friction gives them a reason to lapse. Removing the "I lose my rank" objection takes the biggest source of that friction off the table. If you want to think about the wider picture of why members leave and what holds them, we have covered it in How to Reduce Gym Member Churn.
How Fittest helps
The import is one small part of a system built to do more than Myzone did, without asking your members to buy anything new.
- It works with the wearables they already own. Apple Watch, Garmin, WHOOP, Polar, most heart-rate belts and more connect straight in for live heart rate, effort points and leaderboards on any TV. There are no belts to sell and no gym hardware to buy. That is a real difference worth understanding before you commit, and we go through it in full in the best Myzone alternative for gyms.
- Effort counts across everything, not just cardio. Strength Scoring rates lifting to the same standard as HIIT and conditioning, so the member grinding through a heavy session earns points too, rather than feeling punished for not spiking their heart rate.
- The rank ladder runs deep. Members climb by roughly 15,000 points a month, through ranks that get harder the higher they go, which keeps your most committed people chasing something for years rather than plateauing.
- Recovery and progress are visible. A Daily Recovery Score, Weekly Summaries, 90-day Personal Bests and Workout Comparison give members reasons to open the app between sessions, not only during class.
- It runs on your screens with no new kit. Live leaderboards show on any TV through the big-screen app, so the energy your members felt on Myzone is still on the wall.
The status import is the thing that lets you make that move without a fight. Members keep what they earned, land where they belong, and start climbing a ladder with a lot more room in it.
